What do you want to be changed?

limit the maximum character slots on the server to 3

Explanation of suggestion?

Now, I don’t mean for this to happen immediately, but sometime maybe for next wipe or something. I don’t want people to just delete 2 of their hard earned level 50 characters. having the maximum character slots to 3 characters, not 5.

How or why does this benefit the server?

Limiting the max character slots on the server will most surely heal some factions and will show which ones nobody plays. By limiting the character slots, it makes it so people have to choose carefully which faction they really do want to play and rid which ones they just have in the background. This post will have ups and downs, but someone would’ve had to made it sometime soon. (edit: forgot to mention but this is mainly for the sake of the server, raids and wars will be more balanced, will push more aspects of rp, and hopefully can start making factions green again instead of a constant everyday hellcat vs ncr baby fight)

Are there any workshop add-ons or content needed for this suggestion?

-1, as a big proponent of this idea from CGC, I have seen first hand this does not "heal" a factions activity. The reality is we should start pushing for locking factions that are not active, CKing all on the whitelist (staff can CK and Un-CK dont worry) and each player who wants to continue said slot can contact staff to coordinate a time to offload Faction specific gear from said player, not just the general branded item, but like, the gear beholden to a faction. 

 

This stops any attempt to have factions just open up and then lock when people have gear they'd want.

Needed to gather all reasonable posts to make a counter post why I'm on the fences for this.

At the current state of the server, I see 2 major problems: 1. a lack of people playing the server (hence why you usually see the server not entirely filled up like it used to be) and 2. the need to make the server adequate enough to be played. To some degree, and using Robby as an example for this instance, part of the reason why, is Divide is on the other side of the spectrum and focuses on the PvP aspect more than the RP, with it just incorporated along the way while NWB does the opposite, hence why he locked the faction and decided to move the faction in it's entirety (The Literal Faction Slot) over there. Event Team holds the sole responsibility of keeping that RP aspect alive through building the event areas, planning it, bypassing rewards through Staff Council, then eventually releasing the event. I had made a suggestion to push the permissions of Event Team Lead further, if not to make contact with Staff Council easier with no response as of late. You can already see that current state with which Divide is at, we lack developers to keep up with the never ending suggestions that players continuously put out in terms with BS regarding weapons about 75% of the time. We are in a constant NEED for developers as the only two noticable ones are Robert and Brit, especially with Ghasts retiring, it can be a lot of strain for these two to deal with.

Now, in terms of "restricting character counts to 3", I said this is a HUGE setback in terms of what we dealt with in CGC, where they reduced the player character amount from 8 to 4, leaving factions more dead than ever. The idea of doing this especially also hinders Staff (which leaves them with 2 characters to play as they need a character slot for staff) which is why I'm arguable undecided over this. "Locking Dead Factions" has already been talked about as you'd need to discuss with yourself about what constitutes a "dead faction". Is it someone that doesn't past red? Then sorry all merchant factions, PF, and so on.

You want a REAL answer to solving this? Here's the step-by-step solution:

1. Pull the Plug. Shut down the Server and Do. The. Wipe.
2. Lock Suggestions in it's entirety. Do all the Suggestions that needs to be done.
3. Once everything's said and done, reopen it all over again.

i didnt want to go on a yap session but like

a big point of this post was to show which factions no one plays and should be looked at by SC in terms of locking them, (im aware what you said about that) so they can boost the health and activity from other factions that are actually trying to be active. If a faction really doesn't wants to be locked by SC, then they will have to either step up their activity here and put forth some actual effort, other then just letting their fucking faction die which has been seen. Sure, some factions will always be red (FOA, GK, PF, Merchant factions), but the factions that should have actual members, the ones that should be seen more around then usual, should be the primary goal. A person is going to have to sacrifice a character slot or 2 to put more effort into factions they actually want to play. Also, I don't know if you haven't noticed, but this server is pretty much PVP warfare lmao, literally just CVR. For ex. NCR is averaging green members every single day, whilst all the other factions are just red or aren't even there. That might not be much of a problem, if it wasn't EVERY day for these past few weeks. not to mention some cores are in a bad state at the moment, and yes I do see they are trying to make a comeback but It's a constant back and forth cycle from the same type of activity from one faction to another, core or not. (disregarding flaggups and allat stuff) If this post does happen to get accepted lets say beginning of next wipe and it happens to show a huge problem in the server and the community, then it isn't a huge problem to just revert back to the maximum capacity of 5. I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just trying to look at it from a different angle. Oh and for your staff character problem, just make it 4 characters then? If you really want to take it farther and make it a complete different character system for staff then go for it, but like you said, we don't have many devs, especially with ghasts retiring, its up to 2 developers to do their job in a short amount of time with so many suggestions. If you want to shut down the server and get all this shit done then do it. My main point is, make it 3 character slots next wipe, and shi if im wrong im wrong.

we already did the whole song and dance of removing player slots to increase faction activity and it didn't fucking work.
if im bored of my main and dont have a second character im not going to just play my main more im just not getting on the server.

I'm sure it will be entirely different this time guys.
Its not like every single wipe we've had has been in some way due to staff fucking the server harder than me and your collective mothers last night. Surely just one more wipe will finally make everything right.

We've had two wipes in under a year. Its basically just pushing the can down the road at this point. If the solution to every single problem is "Wipe the server again" why is anybody expected to get invested in it when we KNOW theres going to be a wipe due to another instance of staff incompetence in under 6 months
