Let Factions Keep their RP Slurs

WAIT! Before staff jump on this post and shut it down. Here me out. And I'm self censoring heavily aswell in this post.

 

For as long as I can remember, unity has always said Grigga. It's OUR RP slur. This is a RP server, so don't take away part of our identity. It would make the serve fun too as we can start being creative with them. People can make Slurs for different factions. I just know that we shouldn't be Removing stuff that Factions have been using FOREVER. 

 

I think if factions are gonna be RP, we need to have RP slurs. That would also keep the IRL toxicity and Slurs like the N-Word and F-Word from hopefully being used as much, it would keep people more in RP. We could even make a whole new Rule Page about it. People can make a poll saying something like 

"New slur for Unity (Greenbacks)

Yes or No?"

Or

"New Slur for BoS (Tinmen/Tincan)

Yes or no?"

If enough people like it, (staff can choose the amount.) It gets added to the list of slurs you can use against unity members, BoS members, or whatever faction. Sure some factions will have the same ones, like stupid, ugly, etc. You'll never stop people from using slurs, so may aswell make the best of it and let people be creative with them.

 

No no addon or anything is needed, just a new rule that all slurs have to be a new, rp based one, maybe a new Channel for posting the Polls for them.

 

Before this post is taken down, let the community vote, make a poll or just watch the likes Of this post for 24 hours.

 

Green thumbs up if you want to keep RP Slurs like Grigga, Greenback, etc.

Red Thumbs Down if you want all slurs gone, Christian Minecraft server style.

no. You may have greenback and other slurs. But nothing that is referring towards the n-word (the g-word with the hard R)

I like the word greenback as an IC “slur.”and I know it may sound hypocritical from me but the word grigga is pushing it. Replacing the N in the N-word with a GR doesn’t make it any different from the actual word. It’s like if I said “I Nate Higgers” or “Bligga/Bligger” it sounds bad, and it looks bad.

See he gets it. That’s the whole point Grigga or Grigger (excuse my language) is banned because it resembles the N-word

The only reason why Grigga is considered more obscene than greenback is because the only word you care about is the N-word and not the one referring primarily to a nationality.

Frankly, Im of a "absolutist speech" mentality as long as it remains in character, but staff in all settings and servers are too braindead and retarded to determine a difference and the playerbase of any server doesn't make it all too clear.

You're playing a PvP server with rp aspects after all.

I don’t care about the N-word at all. Frankly I think you should be able to say whatever you want ooc. But I do not fw the word ICly it doesn’t feel like fallout. People in fallout don’t say grigga or grigger and I don’t think I would see that word in fallout. However the word Greenback seems like it would actually be used in the fallout series.

Honestly I can get behind that too. Ooc use it. Ic can't. I can 100% agree with that. Its definitely far fetched to use it ic for fallout. But maybe they did use the n word, this is still in the U.S to be fair. I wonder if there are any games where it's used.

As weird as it may sound as a point to argue from. I dont think the published titles or works are indicative of what is potentially possible for the setting. A good example is the killing of children in the series, often scrubbed due to consumer and publisher/investor sensibilities. I could simply reason thay the reason why it wouldn't be in game is because the era in which the medium was created was sensitive to said words or subject matters. Though I can understand as to why the lack of it can potentially suspend ones belief on server, I just dont agree that this is an argument to set down as this can simply apply to anything else in server, like particular factions using Power Armor as they were never depicted as such, or cyborgs with full motor functions if not outright enhanced by them, or that furries can now use VC for deathclaws cause it happened to have happened in a game.

Lore friendly / Lore accurate slurs like “Tin can” or “Greenback” is fine.

But “Grigga” or “Nuka” is not okay.
